The Extraordinary Start Of The Sophisticated Skagen Ladies Watch

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

The beginning of Skagen mens watch is a tale of Danish immigrants who came to New York to market another brand of watches in North America that were nice to have. Some timepieces were sent to the United States in order for the Danish company to begin a large expansion worldwide.

The couple who introduce this design to the American market found that the brand was likable by the public, but would not become popular because of just the logo and name recognition. Quality and affordability had to go with the name recognition.

This made the couple order four unique designs from the Danish company and almost eight-hundred pieces. These initial designs became the Skagen brand. The order was sold quickly and another order went just as rapidly. The beginning of Skagen was launched.

After the success of the four designs, the immigrants in New York went to work on designing more than thirty models for the upcoming year. The strong passion these two individuals had, along with a perception of what they thought people wanted in a watch, made these new models begin to sell.

The watches were handcrafted and reliable with a Scandinavian flavor as well as being reasonably priced in order to satisfy the average person. An unexpected meeting with a local catalogue producer would put the Skagen line on the map. The catalogue placed one of the designs on the back of the publication.

This ad earned more than $800,000 and all of the stock sold out. The couple was only working from a small apartment located in New York City, but the success of this woman’s watch was be start. The designers were on their way to bigger and better things.

Bloomingdale’s decided to take a chance on Skagen, but only on a trial basis. The designs stocked by the store sold out within hours and the revolutionary Skagen line hit the worldwide market after this. The company soon became the new rising star and other publications named them as the local up and comers in the watch market.

An office was set up in Denmark and eighty stores grew from there. Then they turned their interest to the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. The company now has over 250 designs being sold throughout the world in more than 5,000 stores. The original investment of the immigrants has blossomed into a multi-million dollar company that continues to grow and be creative in their designs.

That small New York apartment has developed into a starting point for all the models from Denmark to the rest of the world. There is no longer just two employees, there is now over 170 working in many places, but still assisting in new, creative designs. The original designers’ passion has made the world want more and more.

The first ideas that brought the Skagen women’s watch to be the nice ones to have are still being kept by the rest of the company. A mission statement from the Skagen company concentrates on a unique mens watches at prices that can be afforded by everyone and used in almost every situation.

Skagen watches are often pretty and convenient works of art. It is very important you know how to properly clean your watch. The steps to doing this depend on the type of material used in the wristband. In order to avoid accidentally damaging or scratching the watch, it is necessary that you know the quick and easy to follow instructions for cleaning and caring for your Skagen men’s watches.

If the band of your watch is metal, you will need to mix together a solution to clean your watch. First be sure you have a pair of rubber gloves on your hands before you begin. Next, mix together an ammonia-based window cleaner and water, or rubbing alcohol and water, into a container.

For the ammonia-based window cleaner, it is recommended that the solution should be three parts window cleaner to one part water. The rubbing alcohol mixture, however, is different and needs to be four parts alcohol to one part water. After mixing whichever solution you decide to use, locate a soft piece of cloth to clean the watch with. Dampen the rag and ring it out thoroughly. Softly wipe the rag over the watch’s face and case.

For the next step you can use either a rag or cotton swab, depending on your personal preference. However, for mesh watchbands, you will need a bristled brush, or toothbrush. Dip the tool into the solution and clean the watchband.

Once again, if your wristband is a metal mesh, find a piece of plastic that you can use to seal the watch face with. This will keep the face safe and ensure that no cleaning solution has a chance of damaging the inner workings of the timepiece. Completely immerse the toothbrush into the cleaning solution and begin scrubbing the metal mesh until it is cleaned to your satisfaction.

Leather or rubber wristbands require a separate cleaning method. The first step is to wet the soft rag into clean water and gently wipe away any dirt or smears from the band. If the wristband is made of rubber, however, this is all the cleaning the band requires. However, smooth leather bands need to be rubbed down with a leather conditioner on occasion.

This conditioner will assist in making sure your wristband does not dry out. It depends greatly on your situation. It is not recommended that you use this conditioner after every cleaning. When the band feels like it is drying out, or applying it after every couple of months or so are the two general standards to go by. After conditioning the leather, just wipe the wristband down with a clean, dry rag.

Skagen watch are practical and are great timepieces. It is always a good idea to adhere to the quick rules noted above when you clean your watch. By doing so, your watch will be kept safe while you are cleaning it. You will be able to thoroughly enjoy the convenience of your clean, reliable Skagen mens wristwatches very soon.
